Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Intent mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “App” or “Service”).
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App and delete it from your device.
Important disclaimers
Not medical or professional advice. Intent is a self-help and habit-tracking application designed to support screen-time awareness and focus goals. The App is not a medical service, therapy, counseling, or medical device; it does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Nothing in the App constitutes medical, psychological, or professional advice. No doctor–patient or therapist–client relationship is created. If you have mental health, addiction, or crisis concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional. The App is not a substitute for professional treatment.
Individual results vary. Habit change and focus outcomes are highly individualized. We do not guarantee any particular results. Tracking usage, limits, and goals may cause stress or frustration; you use the App at your own responsibility. We do not monitor or verify your behavior outside the App.
Release. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for claims arising from your use of the App, emotional distress related to tracking or limits, reliance on insights or AI-generated content, or any behavioral or health outcomes.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the App. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should review these Terms and supervise your use where required by law. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet age requirements.
2. Account and security
To use certain features you may need to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and notify us of unauthorized access. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We are not responsible for losses from unauthorized access.
3. License
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download and use the App for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. No other rights are granted. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. Intellectual property
The App and all related technology, software, designs, text, branding, trademarks, and content are our property or our licensors’ and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; scrape or harvest data; use bots or automated access; use the App to build a competing product; use the App or its content to train AI or machine learning systems; or attempt to access non-public systems or bypass security. Unauthorized use may result in termination and legal action.
5. AI training and data extraction
You may not use the App, its content, data, or technology to train, develop, or improve any AI, machine learning, or large language model systems without our prior written consent. Scraping, extracting, or collecting data from the App for model training or dataset generation is prohibited. We reserve the right to pursue all available remedies for violations.
6. User content
You may create or submit content (e.g. goal text, notes, preferences). You retain ownership. By submitting content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and use it to operate and improve the App. You represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not violate third-party rights.
7. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to: violate applicable laws; harass or abuse others; upload illegal or harmful content; impersonate any person or entity; use the App for unauthorized commercial purposes; bypass or interfere with the App’s functionality or security; or disrupt the Service. We may remove content, restrict access, or terminate accounts for violations.
8. Subscriptions
Certain features may require a paid subscription. Subscription terms are in our Subscription Terms. Payment is processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or other authorized providers. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with reasonable notice.
9. Third-party services
The App may integrate with third-party services (e.g. auth, analytics). We are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of them is governed by their terms. If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation regarding the App and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and all content and features are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure, or error-free service.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages (including loss of data or profits) arising from the App or these Terms. Our total liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, your content, or violation of any law or third-party rights.
13. Disputes and arbitration
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the App shall be resolved by binding arbitration. You waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. Arbitration shall be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, unless otherwise required by law.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that creates legal or security risk. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends.
15. Changes
We may modify these Terms or the App at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will update the “Last updated” date for material changes. For subscriptions, see our Subscription Terms.
16. General
These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and Subscription Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and us. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right does not waive it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of assets.
